The Society of St Vincent de Paul is seeking planning permission to create social housing in North Kerry.
The charity is looking to change the use of The Towers Friendship Centre on Sandhill Road in Ballybunion, from guest accommodation to permanent social residential units.
This section of the property would comprise 11 one-bed apartments, and a two-bed apartment, while it also plans to convert the assembly hall into a two-bed social residential apartment.
The charity has used the former Towers Hotel as a holiday home for people in need, but it is also an approved housing body which currently manages over 860 social housing units in Ireland.
Kerry County Council has said it will decide on the change of use application by 22nd June.
