Crime in Kerry dropped slightly in the first quarter of 2025.
That’s according to data from the CSO as advised by the Garda PULSE system.
It shows across over 70 crime categories, 2,172 incidents were reported to the Kerry Garda Division between January and March.
This figure is down from just over 2,200 (2,212) on the same period last year.
There was an almost 20% drop in incidents of property crime recorded in Kerry in the first quarter of the year, with 476; down from 590 last year.
315 crimes against the person offences were recorded between January and March, a drop of 6.5% on the same period the previous year (when 337 were recorded).
Drink driving arrests in Kerry increased by over 68%, from 54 in Q1 2024 to 91 this year.
Criminal damage, which includes incidents of arson, saw a slight decrease with 165 offences, down from 170.
There was a 3.5% increase in public order incidents with 265 recorded, up from 256 in the first quarter of 2024.
Murder and homicide incidents remained unchanged - with one incident of each recorded in Q1 2024 and Q1 2025 - while threat to kill or cause serious harm rose from 10 to 17 in the space of a year.
Meanwhile, 64 sexual offences were reported in Kerry in the first quarter of 2025, up from 40 last year.
