Skellig Michael’s visitor season ends

Skellig Michael’s visitor season has ended.

The island off the Kerry coast is one of only two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Republic. Prior to the pandemic, Skellig Michael attracted over 16,000 visitors annually, with its recent popularity being partly attributed to the island featuring in successive Star Wars films.

The Office of Public Works manages the maintenance and upkeep of the island. The island closed to visitors on the 1st of this month.
