Skellig Michael will reopen to visitors this weekend.
That’s according to the Office of Public Works, which manages the monastic site off the South West Kerry coast.
The OPW says has confirmed the UNESCO World Heritage site is to reopen on Saturday.
It says access to the site is dependent on favourable weather, sea, and island conditions.
Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran says he’s delighted to announce the reopening of Sceilg Mhichíl.
He says the site plays a significant role in the local rural tourism economy and also serves as a sanctuary for an array of birdlife and stands as a testament to our nation’s rich heritage.
Junior Minister Moran is encouraging people to book in advance and to respect Sceilg Mhichíl’s guidelines, so visitors can enjoy a safe and memorable experience of this iconic landmark, while also respecting its fragile ecosystem and built heritage.
