Six Kerry community groups to benefit from €37,500 of government grants

Six Kerry community climate groups are to benefit from €37,500 of government grants.

Environment Minister, Darragh O’Brien announced the grants funding under the Climate Actions Work Engagement scheme.

The funding supports community groups to share information on climate action and awareness, and engage with new audiences in their region.

The funding has been welcomed by the Minister for Children, Disability, Equality; and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, Norma Foley, and Deputy Michael Cahill.

96 community groups nationally will benefit from the €500,000 funding.

€37,500 has been allocated to six community climate organisations in Kerry.

Maharees Conservation Association is to receive €10,000 for its project which aims to co-create a podcast series capturing stories and actions related to climate awareness and resilience.

€10,000 has been allocated to the Scotia Biodiversity Hub, for its collaboration which will see people with intellectual disabilities included in groundbreaking research and innovation efforts.

Dingle Creative and Innovation Hub – Mol Tec – is to benefit from €10,000 to develop engaging visuals and strategic partnerships for community climate action.

Tralee Tidy Towns; the Corca Dhuibhne Community Forum; and Fossa Climate Action Group are each to receive €2,500 in Climate Actions Work Engagement funding.

Tralee Tidy Towns is to receive €2,500 for a project  to inspire community climate action and promote the benefits of community empowerment through effective communication, showing the huge benefits that can be derived from collective climate action and the benefits of the social networks and social capital built through it.

€2,500 has been allocated the Corca Dhuibhne Community Forum. This organisation enhances community engagement in environmental sustainability through events like Biodiversity and Bike Week, promoting local climate action and fostering a zero-waste culture on the peninsula.

Fossa Community Action Group is to benefit from €2,500 in funding to support a community sustainability fair and follow-on workshops.
