There’s been a significant increase in the number of children presenting to University Hospital Kerry with the flu.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Paediatrics at UHK, Cecilia McGarry says they’ve noticed a surge in cases among children over the past two weeks.
They’ve had a range of symptoms including muscle pains, high temperatures, no appetite and the children are also lethargic.
Cecilia McGarry says some children are sick between a week and ten days with the flu.
She says the flu vaccine is still available and walk-in clinics will take place in Tralee and Killarney over the next two weeks:
