There is a shortage of dental treatment available for children with additional needs in Kerry and Cork.
Figures released to TD Colm Burke show there are funds for just nine senior public dentist roles offer this service across the two counties.
These roles may also include treating older patients, people with mental health conditions and other vulnerable groups.
Deputy Burke told the Irish Examiner the number of dentists providing care for children with disabilities needs to be ‘radically reviewed’.
As of last November, the Irish Dental Association reported that nationally, 104 thousand children were waiting for a public dentist appointment.
