Muckross became Ireland’s first national park when in 1932, her husband Billy's father, Arthur Rose Vincent, and grandfather,William Bowers Bourn, donated the house and 11,000 acres to the people of Ireland.

From the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s, Elisabeth Vincent spent most summers in Dromkerry near Killarney with her family and grandchildren.
