Efforts to rescue missing climber on Carrauntoohil are continuing this afternoon

A rescue operation is continuing this afternoon in search of a missing climber on Carrauntoohil.

Kerry Mountain Rescue team are searching for a missing man, John Dunne from Tipperary, who was walking in the McGillycuddy Reeks.

They're appealing to anyone who may have seen John on the hill yesterday or this morning to please contact Killarney Gardaí on 064 6631222.

The search began at 5am this morning with Rescue 117, a rescue helicopter from Waterford, assisting in the operation.

Yesterday, they safely rescued a woman who broke an ankle on Carrauntoohil.

The woman was transferred to hospital.
