The Seanad has been told it’s a disgrace that Kerry’s All-Ireland Football Championship match with Donegal is behind a paywall streamed on GAA+.

The All-Ireland Championship first-round game takes place in Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney on 23rd May, with a rematch of last year’s final.

The game will not be shown on free-to-air television, but will instead be streamed on GAA+ at a cost.

As with all Kerry games, it will also be broadcast for free on Radio Kerry on FM, online, and on the app.

Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly, whose late brother Tim won five All-Irelands as a mainstay on Kerry’s ‘Golden Years’ team of the 1970s and 80s, says ordinary people are being excluded from watching this game.

He said the people who carried the GAA for generations shouldn’t be locked out of watching their county team:
