A school with capacity for 750 pupils will be built in Killarney.
The Minister for Education and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley has announced the sanction of a new school for St. Brigid’s Presentation Secondary School.
This project will provide for the construction of a state-of-the-art building for 750 pupils.
It’ll comprise 29 general classrooms, two home economics rooms, two art and craft rooms, six specialist rooms, four science labs, a GP room and ancillary accommodation.
The project has been approved for delivery under the department’s capital programme as part of Project Ireland 2040.
A service level arrangement between CEIST, which comprises five Catholic religious congregations engaged in post primary education, and the department has been agreed and the process of the appointment of a design team to deliver the project is underway.
Minister Norma Foley says it’s a welcome development for the school community at St Brigid’s Presentation, Killarney and a recognition of their long service and tradition of excellence in providing education for girls in Killarney town and its hinterland.
