Ryanair says the Government needs to do more to support regional airports
The airline made the statement after announcing it has welcomed 7 million passengers through Kerry Airport since 1989.
Ryanair’s director of communications, Jade Kirwan, has called for the expansion of next year’s Regional Airports Programme to allow for at least 3 million passengers per year.
Yesterday, Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien announced that Kerry Airport will receive €1.4 million in funding under this programme.
Regional airports qualify for funding under this scheme if annual passenger numbers remain under a million.
