There will be rolling road closures around the wider Killarney area this weekend for the annual Rally of the Lakes.
The 2026 Assess Ireland International Rally of the Lakes takes place from this evening until Sunday.
College Street and Plunkett Street will be closed to traffic between 6 o’clock and 9:30 this evening for the ceremonial start of the rally.
Approximately 30 vehicles will exit from Páirc Feirme on Lewis Road, and travel via College Street and Plunkett Street to Main Street; the vehicles will return to Páirc Feirme after the opening ceremony.
Tomorrow morning, the N71 at Molls Gap will be closed from 6:45am to 11:30am for the first stage, with the first car due at 8:30am.
The local roads L-3014 and L-7054 through Gortnagane will be closed from 8:30am to 4:05pm on Saturday for stages two and five.
The road at Caherbanagh will close from 9:15am to 4:50pm on Saturday for stages three and six.
Stages four and seven on Saturday will mean the road at Doon Bridge will be closed from 11:10am to 6:35pm.
Four local roads at Knockrower East will be closed from 3:10pm to 7:15pm on Saturday for stage eight.
The cars will return to Killarney between 5-7pm via the Woodlands Industrial Estate, the bypass, before parking up again at Lewis Road.
On Sunday, the N71 at Molls Gap will be closed from 7:20am to 3:25pm for stages nine and 12.
The R568 road through Ballaghbeama and the L-4047 will be closed from 8:45am to 4:25pm on Sunday for stages ten and 13.
Roads through Shanera will be closed from 9:30am to 5pm on Sunday for stages 11 and 14, with the rally cars returning to Killarney by around 5:30pm.
As well as the road closures, Lewis Road Car Park will be unavailable for parking until 9pm on Sunday, while Gortroe Car Park will be closed from 6pm on Saturday, to 8am on Sunday.
