A proposed safety improvement scheme on the R570 Glenflesk-Barraduff road has been approved by Killarney Municipal District.
The proposed development at the entrance to Barraduff village, near the primary school will include pedestrian crossings, enhanced signage, and a revised car parking layout.
The existing footpath will also be extended into the roadway to shorten the crossing distance and to slow traffic down,
A public consultation closed last December, and three submissions were received.
The project will not proceed until funding is approved.
The proposal has been submitted to the Department of Transport as part of Kerry County Council’s Safety Improvement Works Grant Application for 2026.
