Rolling road closures and other traffic measures will be in place to accommodate the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle this weekend.

The annual 180km cycle along the famous route takes place this Saturday, 5th July.

Lower New Street Car Park in Killarney will be closed between 7am on Friday (4th July) until midnight on Saturday to enable the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle set-up.

Mission Road (N71) in Killarney, from Kenmare Place to the junction with New Street (R877), will be closed to traffic from five until nine on Saturday morning (5am to 9am) and again from 11:30am to eight o'clock on Saturday evening (8pm) to allow cyclists pass safely.

Beech Road (L3909) in Killarney, from the junction with New Street (R877) to the junction with Mission Road (N71) will be closed to vehicles from 5 to 9am on Saturday, and again from noon until eight (8pm) that evening.

The N72 between Fossa and Killorglin, from the junction with the Milltown Road (R563) in Fossa to the junction with the N70 at Laune Bridge, will be closed from six to nine on Saturday morning (6am to 9am).

Traffic will instead be diverted through Faha and Listry using the R563, and from there along the N70 to Killorglin.

The eastbound lane of the N70 from the Iveragh Road roundabout in Killorglin, through Tullig and Quaybaun, and ending at Caragh Bridge will be closed from six to noon (6am - 12pm).

Traffic heading east towards Killorglin will be diverted along the L4022, L4033, and L4034 through Dooks, Cromane, Garraun, and Castleconway, while motorists going west (from Killorglin to Glenbeigh) can still use the N70 as usual.

The R568 from Sneem, starting at Derreendarragh Cross (L4074 junction) and ending at the junction with the N71 at Molls Gap, will be closed from 11am to 8pm.

The N71, starting at the junction of the N70 and N71 in Gortamullin, Kenmare, passing Molls Gap and Galway’s Bridge, and ending at the car park at Torc Waterfall will be shut to vehicles from 11am to eight o'clock Saturday evening (8pm).

Kerry County Council is advising motorists travelling between Killarney and Kenmare during this time to use the N22 and R569 via Glenflesk and Kilgarvan instead.
