Retired cold case detective says it's not too late for people to come forward with information into Michael Gaine's disappearance

A retired cold case detective says it's not too late for people to come forward with information that they think could help in finding Michael Gaine.

The 56-year-old from Kenmare has been missing for more than five weeks; he was last seen in Whyte's Centra, Kenmare buying phone credit on Thursday morning, March 20th.

Alan Bailey is a former detective garda sergeant who worked on numerous murder and missing persons cases.

He says a good investigator will focus on what a person is telling them, not who's saying it or in the manner in which it's framed:

Meanwhile, Alan Bailey believes if Mr Gaine was in possession of his phone, there would likely be more information as to what has happened.

The farmer's phone and wallet were in his RAV4 jeep, which was found parked in Michael Gaine’s farmyard in Carrig East.

Mr Bailey says this is a circumstance which has had an impact on the case:

Anyone with information is asked to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
