Kerry County Council plans to spend €9.7 million to bring its headquarters in line with upcoming energy-efficiency targets.
That’s according to research done by the Irish Independent which contacted 30 of Ireland’s 31 local authorities, excluding Dublin City Council about their plans to meet standards.
By 2030, all public sector buildings must have a BER rating of B.
It reports a €504 million bill that Dublin City Council (DCC) cites to retrofit its Wood Quay headquarters is 137 times the average cost for the same works in other local authorities.
