The National Ambulance Service (NAS) is to assess Reenard GAA Club’s suitability as an air ambulance landing point.
Cllr Norma Moriarty received the information from HSE South West at the recent Regional Health Forum.
All pre-determined landing sites are surveyed to determine if they can accommodate the various types of aircraft used for aeromedical missions in Ireland.
The initial ground inspection will assess road access, and potential obstructions like lighting poles, netting and other structures, before NAS, Air Corps and Coastguard helicopters conduct an aerial reconnaissance.
