The re-offending rate of Kerry people released from custody on probation is the highest nationally.
That’s according to the CSO’s probation re-offending report for 2021.
It shows 29 people with Kerry as their county of residence, received probation orders in the year.
Of these 19 individuals, or 34% reoffended within 1-year of probation; above the national average of 23%.
The Kerry figure is an increase on the previous year, when 28% of probationers reoffended within 12 months.
Nationally, public order, controlled drug, and theft offences accounted for nearly two-thirds of all probation re-offences.
