Rainfall has been recorded at Valentia Observatory every day in 2026 so far.
That’s according to Met Éireann, the national forecaster, who say that although rainfall has been recorded daily, the amounts each day have generally been relatively low.
47 consecutive days of rainfall have been recorded at Valentia Observatory, which is every day of this year so far.
The last dry day recorded at the Observatory was on December 29th last year.
A ‘rain day’ according to the national forecaster, is a day on which 0.2 mm or more of rainfall is measured, while a wet day is a day with 1.0 mm or more of rainfall, and a very wet day is a day with 10.0 mm or more of rainfall.
