Radio Kerry understands that there may be no boat landings on Skellig Michael until at least the start of next month.
Late last year the Office of Public Works held a competition to award 15 permits to land passengers on Sceilg Mhichíl for this summer.
Two unsuccessful applicants have challenged this while a third issued legal proceedings on May 8th.
Under Irish and EU law, the OPW says it cannot issue the permits to the 15 successful applicants until the legal cases are resolved, unless the court gives permission to proceed.
It claims the number of permits is limited to protect the fragile ecosystem of the island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to an ancient monastic settlement.
The boat landing season is limited to the summer season into early autumn; this year, landings had been due to resume last weekend.
The OPW filed a motion earlier this month seeking permission to issue permits for summer 2025 to the successful applicants.
Yesterday the High Court granted an interim order to one of the unsuccessful applicants.
The case is listed to be heard again on June 3rrd.
