The King Puck statue is now officially covered under Kerry County Council’s public liability insurance.
Fianna Fáil Councillor for the Kenmare MD, Tommy Cahill says the move protects one of Ireland’s most photographed landmarks and a major draw for locals and tourists.
He says the coverage will also make it easier to improve lighting, enhance the area, and preserve the statue for future generations.
Cllr. Cahill praised officials within Kerry County Council for recognising the need to bring the King Puck statue under formal coverage.
Day 2 of Puck, or Fair Day, is underway in Killorglin this morning.
