Public information campaign needed to prevent national park fires

A public information campaign is necessary to educate people on their responsibilities in national parks.

That's the view of Minister of State for Heritage, Malcolm Noonan.

He was speaking at a press conference in Killarney National Park, following a large fire over the weekend that burned almost half the land area of the park.

He says emergency resources have been stretched due to the amount of fires all over the country in recent weeks.
