A candidate in the upcoming presidential election has committed to reflecting the values of the people of Ireland, if elected.
Independent TD for Galway West, Catherine Connolly says she understands the president’s constitutional duties.
She believes she demonstrated her impartiality when serving as the Leas-Cheann Comhairle of the 33rd Dáil.

Deputy Connolly was the first name on the ballot paper for next month’s presidential election.
She received backing from Labour, the Social Democrats, People Before Profit-Solidarity and a number of Independent politicians.
