The President of Ireland is visiting Kerry today.
President Catherine Connolly will join Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan in Ballybunion this afternoon.
President Connolly will also travel to South Kerry later today to launch the Éigse na Brídeoige festival in Caherdaniel.
This is Uachtarán na hÉireann, President Catherine Connolly’s first official visit to the county since she took office last November.
She’s attending an event called ‘What if We Were Brilliant?’, organised by the Brilliant Ballybunion group.
Over the past two years, Brilliant Ballybunion has been focusing on growing food, being creative and protecting nature.
The event will feature a series of talks, films and art works by artist Lisa Fingleton and community collaborators, as well as a book launch which documents their work.
The event will take place in the Tinteán Theatre from 1pm to 3.30pm.
President Connolly will launch the Éigse na Brídeoige festival in Caherdaniel at 7.30pm; the event will feature music, song and talks and it'll run until Sunday.
