Planning permission should have been sought for white cross over Annascaul Lake

Whoever painted a white cross onto the rock face of the mountain by Annascaul Lake should have sought planning permission.

Kerry County Council says the cross was not an “exempted development”.

However, the council is not investigating the matter at present, as the planning enforcement section hasn’t received any submissions on the matter.

The local authority says the painted cross was likely located within both the Mount Brandon Special Area of Conservation and the Dingle Peninsula Special Protection Area.
