Kerry County Council has granted planning for 65 homes just outside Killorglin.
OHR Developments Ltd and Cherryhill Developments Ltd applied for planning permission to build the houses on a site across the road from the Astellas building.
The development will include 37 two-storey terraced houses, of two and three beds.
It will also include 20 semi-detached houses of three beds, as well as eight, one-bed maisonettes.
There will be a creche for 40 children on site, as well as 112 car parking spaces.
The site is directly across the road from the Astellas factory on the approach to Killorglin town, and is beside an estate currently under construction.
Nine of the houses will be handed over to the council, as part of social housing obligations.
Planning was granted subject to 23 conditions, including that the developer must construct a new footpath for the entire road frontage of the site, heading westwards towards Killorglin town.
All communal parking spaces in the estate must also have connections to the exterior of houses to allow future EV charging points.
The developer plans to call the estate, ‘Fairview Close’.
