Planning has been granted for a substantial housing development in a North Kerry village.
Ballylongford Developments Ltd was granted permission to build 18 houses at Ballymacassy, Main Street, in Ballylongford.
There will be eight two-bed units and ten three-bed units on the site, which is adjacent to the Ballyline River.
Because of its proximity to the river, mitigation measures are required to lower the risk of flooding on the site, including a raised floor level.
Kerry County Council gave the go-ahead for the development subject to 21 conditions, including that the houses cannot be bought by corporate entities, or be used as holiday or second homes.
