Due to overwhelming demand, the "Set for Sam" charity walk in aid of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) on 27th December has had to change its itinerary.

Well-known musician and fundraiser Derry Healy will lead the walk from the Kenmare side.

Participants are advised to bring a change of clothes, suitable footwear, lunch, a warm drink, a torch, and a good sense of humour.

Participants who secured bus tickets before they sold out will meet at Muckross House car park.

Buses will leave at 9:30am sharp and head to Kenmare, where the walk will start at the junction for the Old Kenmare Road.

Walkers will then follow the Kerry Way trail towards Killarney, carrying the Sam Maguire.

For those who didn’t get a bus ticket, they’ll need to make their own way to the upper Torc car park.

From there, they’ll walk the Old Kenmare Road in the direction of Kenmare, meeting up with the group carrying the Sam Maguire on the way.

Both groups will finish at the Killarney end, returning to Muckross House car park via the upper Torc car park after 3.00pm.

Please note, there is no return transport provided, so they’ll need to arrange their own way back to their vehicle.
