Over half a billion euro in funding has been confirmed for road projects in Kerry.
It’s part of the Department of Transport’s revised National Development Plan.
Among the projects, is the N22 Killarney-Farranfore bypass, with funding of up to €500 million confirmed.
The funding has been welcomed by Minister for State and Independent TD for Kerry, Michael Healy-Rae, Deputy Danny Healy-Rae; Children’s Minister and Fianna Fáil TD, Norma Foley, Deputy Michael Cahill, and Fine Gael Senator, Mike Kennelly.
Cabinet is to approve the Department of Transport’s sectoral plan today, which includes over €3 billion in funding allocations nationally for 2026.
Over half a billion euro in funding is to be allocated to Kerry under the revised National Development Plan.
Up to €500 million in a cost range has been confirmed for the N22 Farranfore – Killarney project.
The plan states procurement will take place in 2029, with construction set to commence by 2030.
Funding of up to €50 million has also been confirmed for the Tralee Northern Relief Road, phase 1 of which is due for completion in 2026.
Killarney strategic links project, which is set to commence construction in 2027, has an allocation of up to €20 million.
The completion of the South Kerry Greenway is also to receive an allocation under the NDP.
Meanwhile, the N21 Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West relief roads have been allocated funding, while up to €1 billion has been confirmed for the N21/N69 Limerick to Foynes route, which includes the Adare bypass.
