Over €739,000 in funding has been announced for community climate initiatives in Kerry.
The Community Climate Action Programme aims to support and empower communities in the county.
It's part of over €29.5 million in funding announced by Environment Minister Darragh O'Brien.
The funding has been welcomed by Children’s Minister and Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley, Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill, Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly and Independent deputy Danny Healy-Rae.
19 sports clubs and community initiatives in Kerry are to benefit from the Community Climate Action Programme.
Inspired Tralee is to receive €100,000 for the development of its “Smart Pod”, to serves as a low-carbon energy efficient community facility.
Castleisland Desmonds GAA club has been allocated €100,000 for community climate projects including Solar PV installation, active travel infrastructure and LED lighting.
Tralee Dynamos will benefit from over €94,000 for insulation upgrades and solar PV intergration into the hot water system.
Spa GAA Club has been allocated over €89,000 for projects aimed at improving their facilities energy performance, while Killorglin Rugby Club will receive over €70,000 for sustainability projects.
Sneem Tidy Towns has been allocated more than €31,000, Killarney Tech Innovation is to receive almost €26,000, while Moyvane Community Hub’s - Failte Isteach Gach Duine is to benefit from €20,000.
Other projects to receive funding under the scheme are Fossa Climate Action Group (€4,244), Kenmare Tidy Towns (€12,473,97), Dingle Hub (€18,000), Austin Stacks GAA Club (€44,000), Ballybunion Tidy Towns (€10,332), Ballyduff Tidy Towns (€9,400), Wild Mind Fenit (€5,740), Mastergeeha FC, Killarney (€18,000), Tralee Tidy Towns (€11,146), Knocknagoshel GAA Club (€48,900), County Kerry Cricket Club (€26,400).
