Over €4,000 in fines were handed down on foot of over 40 water complaints made to Kerry County Council during the first quarter of this year.
That’s according to figures compiled by the council, which were presented to members.
The data outlines the number of complaints, fines issued and court prosecutions for environmental matters.
142 litter complaints were made and investigated by the council between January and March.
The represents an almost 13% drop when compared with the same period last year.
Kerry County Council issued 21 fines on foot of complaints made in the first three months of 2026.
Of these, six have been paid to date; while there was also one court conviction during that time, totalling €420.
During the first quarter of this year, 161 waste complaints were investigated, while a €650 fine and court conviction were also recorded.
49 water complaints were investigated during the period; there was two court convictions, with fines totalling €4,250.
Meanwhile, Kerry County Council investigated seven air complaints between January and March.
