Over €3.2 million in funding has been allocated for eight group water schemes in Kerry.
The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne announced the funding under the multi-annual Rural Water Programme 2024-2026.
Eight group water schemes in Kerry are to share in the €3.2 million and this funding will go towards water source protection, compliance with water quality standards, leakage reduction and expanding the coverage of piped water supplies from the public (Uisce Éireann) network.
€1.8 million has been allocated for the Clanmaurice group water scheme, while the Spa Tiernaboul Group Water Scheme is to get €650,000, and €350,000 will go towards the Tuosist Group Water Scheme and Group Sewerage Schemes.
The Brosna Group Water Scheme will get €150,000, while Lyreacrompane Group Water Scheme and Commaun Group Water Scheme will each receive €120,000.
€90,000 has been allocated for the Ballynoneen No 2 Group Water Scheme and €15,000 will go to the Dingle High Road Group Sewerage Scheme.
Minister for Children, Disability and Equality and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley, Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae, Independent TD Danny Healy-Rae and, Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly have welcomed the announcement.
