Fenit RNLI were presented with a check for over €22,000 from fundraising efforts in memory of a young man who tragically passed away in a drowning accident during the Summer.
18 year-old Luke Silles was a Leaving Cert student who sadly passed away in May after he got into difficulty while swimming off Kelly's Beach in Fenit.
In total €22,210 was raised through combined efforts from The Silles family, Luke's school, CBS, The Green Tralee, and his club, Ballymacelligott G.A.A..
At a recent fundraiser quiz at Glenduff Manor raised €12,000 and over €1,000 was raised in lieu of flowers at Luke's funeral.
Fenit RNLI recently dedicated its new defibrillator to the memory of Luke Silles, saying that the mantra of the new unit is "Live for Luke".
