Over €2.7 million in funding has been allocated for Kerry Airport.
This was granted under the Regional Airports Programme 2026-2030.
The funding has been welcomed by Minister for Children Norma Foley, Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill, Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly and Independent TD Danny Healy-Rae.
Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Jerry Buttimer along with Minister Darragh O’Brien and Minister Sean Canney announced the allocation of almost €8 million in Exchequer funding to Regional Airports under the Regional Airports Programme 2026-2030.
Over €2.7 million of this will go towards Kerry Airport.
The funding will be used to replace the fire tender for Kerry Airport, runway pavement remedial works, runway markings, and a CCTV system upgrade.
It will also be used for electrical transformer upgrades, a fire training simulator, a flight strip soil improvement survey and other airport works.
Ireland West (Knock) Airport is to get over €2.8 million, while Shannon Airport has been granted more than €1.9 million and Donegal Airport will get €360,000.
