Over €1.1 million in funding has been allocated to turnaround vacant social houses this year in Kerry.
This is part of a €40 million package announced by Minister for Housing James Browne.
This funding aims to help Kerry County Council improve the turnaround time of social housing when tenants move out, before new tenants move in.
It’ll also help to fund the active maintenance programme for social housing so the existing housing stock is kept in good condition continuously.
This year’s allocation is an increase for Kerry, up from over €930,000 last year.
The announcement has been welcomed by Minister of State Michael Healy-Rae, Deputy Danny Healy-Rae, Minister Norma Foley and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.
