Over 300 incidents of violence have been recorded in University Hospital Kerry over the past 3 years.
That’s according to an investigation carried out by The Journal.
The figures show staff in UHK have experienced 233 incidents of aggression, violence, or challenging behaviour in the past 3 years
A further 80 incidents were recorded against the hospital's service users.
Nationally, almost 20,000 (19,771) incidents of aggression were recorded in Irish hospitals between 2023 and 2025.
The hightest number of incidents was found in The Mater Hospital in Dublin, with 2442 violent occurrences against staff in the same three year period.
The HSE has said that efforts have been made to address the issue and that the increased recording of incidents is a sign of better levels of reporting.
