Sites maintained and operated by the Office of Public Works around the country will be free this year for visitors.
Minster of State with responsibility for the OPW, Patrick O'Donovan says entrance fees will be waived for sites including Ardfert Cathedral, Derrynane House and Ross Castle.
In return, Minister O'Donovan is urging people to use the money they save to support the local economy:
