The number of homes commenced in the first three months of the year in Kerry is at its lowest level since 2016.
That’s according to figures from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The latest commencement figures show construction commenced on 17 homes in Kerry in March.
Combined with the total of 33 in February and 16 in January, this means construction has begun on 66 homes so far this year.
During the same period last year, 92 homes were commenced, while that figure is even higher again in the first three months of 2023.
The total of 66 commencements is the lowest for the first quarter of any year since 2016, when there were 45 homes commenced in the first three months of the year.
Every year since 2016, there have been more housing commencements in the first three months than there have been so far this year.
All the homes commenced in Kerry last month were one-off housing units.
17 commencement notices were also filed in Kerry during March, indicating further development this month.
