The National Parks and Wildlife Service is operating drones and fire monitoring as a forest fire risk warning is in place.
The status orange warning is in place nationally until Tuesday at 12pm.
Anyone attending Killarney National Park is urging people not to light fires or barbecues in public areas.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is urging people to enjoy the good weather without nature at risk during this fire warning.
They say this means no lighting fires or BBQs in public places; this includes national parks, nature reserves, coastal sand dunes, mountains, upland areas, forests, meadows and urban fires.
They say drone and fire monitoring will be in operation for the duration of the status orange fire risk warning.
The NPWS is also advising swimmers in Killarney that access to Dundag via Muckross House and Gardens will be closed to traffic until Tuesday to facilitate the Rally of the Lakes.
Meanwhile, Coillte says the warm and dry conditions we are currently experiencing are expected to continue into the weekend and this increases the risk of fire spreading, particularly with low humidity and moderate winds.
Coillte is also asking people to avoid lighting fires or barbecues in high-risk areas outdoors; Coillte says if someone comes across a forest fire they shouldn’t intervene or fight such fires.
The emergency services should be immediately contacted via 112.
Coillte says all landowners should stay alert and report any suspicious activity to Gardaí.
