There was a notable increase in the use of online resources at Kerry Library last year.
Figures published by Kerry County Council show that the county’s nearly 30,000 (28,959) active library users borrowed almost 290,000 (289,954) e-newspapers and e-magazines.
Almost 88,000 (87,868) e-books and audiobooks were also borrowed.
Physical items, including books, remained popular.
There were more than 425,000 (425,766) visits to Kerry Library’s nine branches and two mobile libraries in 2025, with almost 363,000 physical items borrowed.
Several councillors welcomed the library’s popularity, with Councillor Charlie Farrelly requesting specific figures for the mobile library service.
Councillor Robert Brosnan was told the mobile library would be stocked with current PPN newsletters and other relevant literature to help keep rural communities abreast of local government updates and other events.
