Kerry County Council has closed a North Kerry road for the next four weeks due to concerns about the integrity of Foildarrig bridge.
The L-6060 Duagh to Kilmorna road between Foildarrig junction and Kilmorna junction will remain closed to the public until 5pm on Friday, 11th December.
Kerry County Council made the announcement on the advice of structural consultants, as surveys must be conducted to monitor the bridge.
River bank erosion underneath the bridge has been exacerbated by floodwaters in the River Feale.
Remedial works were carried out on Foildarrig bridge in spring 2024, and council management announced last December that it had applied to the Department of Transport for funding through the Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Works Programme to solve the erosion.

Traffic traveling from Duagh to Kilmorna: Tavel along the R-555 Abbeyfeale road to Abbeyfeale town, in Abbeyfeale take a left on to the R-524 Athea road, continue along the R-524 to the junction with the L-1023 Kilmorna road, take a left on to the L-1023 Kilmorna road.
Traffic travelling from Kilmorna to Duagh: Travel along the L-1023 Kilmorna Road towards Abbeyfeale Town, at the junction with the R-524 Athea Road take a right onto the R-524 towards Abbeyfeale, continue along the R-524, at the junction with the R-555 Listowel Road take a right onto the R-555, continue along the R-555 to Duagh Village.
