A north Kerry nursing home has received a generally positive review from the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).
On April 10th of this year, the health watchdog carried out an unannounced inspection at Willow Brooke Care Centre in Castleisland.
The inspector focused on infection prevention and control, alongside broader compliance with care planning, governance, residents’ rights and other regulations.
The centre was deemed compliant with seven and substantially compliant with the remaining four regulations assessed.
The nursing home committed to undertaking specific steps to improve infection control, resident transfers, care planning, and antibiotic use.
These include revised audit tools, clearer documentation, regular reviews, and enhanced communication of infection.
HIQA concluded that residents at Willow Brooke Care Centre were safe, well cared for, and content in their surroundings.
The report said residents with dementia or other cognitive impairment were observed to be calm and comfortable during the visit.
