A North Kerry community has become one of Ireland’s first dementia inclusive towns.
27 local businesses and organisations in Listowel collaborated with HSE South West over the past three years to help increase awareness and support those living with dementia.
They are taking part in the Dementia: Understand Together campaign to build a welcoming, supportive, and understanding community for people with the condition.
The HSE says people with dementia and their families can now be feel reassured they will receive support, kindness and understanding from staff and the wider Listowel community.
Most people with the syndrome live in their communities, so organisers says it's vital they can stay independent, access local services, and feel genuinely supported in daily life.
