No XL Bully type dogs were surrendered to the Kerry County Council dog wardens following the ban on the restricted breed.
Owners of the restricted breed were required to surrender their dogs to their local authority dog warden following the initial stage of the ban in February.
Following a series of XL Bully attacks, a ban on the breed was announced in 2024 in the interest of public safety.
Owners who wished to keep their dog, as well as charitable organisations, were able to obtain a free certificate of exemption between October 1st 2024 and February 1st 2025.
Owners and organisations who did not wish to keep their XL Bully could surrender them to their local authority dog warden, where they would be humanely euthanised.
Nationwide, 60 XL Bully type dogs have been surrendered following the exemption period, with the highest number in Limerick, at 13.
No dogs were surrendered to the Kerry County Council dog warden.
