Defence Forces personnel from Kerry will take part in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
344 troops from 28 counties will go to Lebanon over the next month for the last fully-operational deployment of Irish soldiers.
Among those peace keepers from the 128th Infantry Battalion being deployed to the Middle East, are nine troops from Kerry.
The UN mission in southern Lebanon will continue until the end of this year, with a further year for the withdrawal of personnel.
Kerry Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly says they are being deployed at a critical moment for peace and stability in the region.
Senator Kennelly states this mission has been so important for almost five decades.
"At a time of great challenge in the region, our defence forces will serve with professionalism and courage".
He added “our Defence Forces have showed a strong commitment to peace throughout the UNIFIL mission.
Senator Kennelly stated "I want to reassure personnel and their families that the safety and wellbeing of our soldiers remains paramount.”
The Listowel based Senator said “For the 9 soldiers in Kerry, you are part of a mission of peace, humanity, and hope, and we are thankful for the work you do”.
