The new Rose of Tralee, Katelyn Cummins, has praised her father Noel for encouraging her to enter the competition.
The 20-year-old is the first Laois Rose to win the title in its 66 years.
Katelyn wanted to enter the competition to make friends, but says her father Noel encouraged her when she got cold feet:

Katelyn is an apprentice electrician in her third phase of training.
