A new national campaign is encouraging adults in Kerry to plan ahead for important life decisions.
The “You Know Me” campaign has been launched by the Mental Health Commission (MHC) in partnership with the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.
The aim is to support people in making their wishes known in advance, in case a time comes when they may need help making decisions.
The campaign is highlighting tools such as Enduring Powers of Attorney and Advance Healthcare Directives, which are supported by the Decision Support Service.
Kerry Senator Mike Kennelly has welcomed the campaign, saying it will help individuals and families plan ahead and provide reassurance for the future.
More than 6,000 people have registered an Enduring Power of Attorney in the past three years.
The initiative will run throughout the summer and autumn, with advertising across television, radio and digital platforms.
It is backed by organisations including the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, the Irish Hospice Foundation, Nursing Homes Ireland, Safeguarding Ireland, Age Friendly Ireland, and Family Carers Ireland.
The campaign also comes ahead of a statutory review of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015 later this year, and three years after the law came into effect.
