A Kerry postmistress says it was great to experience the joy of winning over €30,000 in the National Lottery herself, after selling winning tickets to customers over the years.
Mairead Doyle from Asdee matched five numbers and the bonus in the main Lotto draw on January 8th.
She has since collected her winnings and returned to the North Kerry store where she bought her ticket.
Mairead Doyle bought her winning Quick Pick ticket in Cahill’s SuperValu, Main Street, Ballybunion in January.
She’s been a postmistress in Asdee for over 45 years and sold many National Lottery tickets and Scratch Cards to her customers over the years.
She says during that time, she used to talk to customers about their dreams and how they’d spend the money if they ever won.
Mairead Doyle says she’s seen so many happy faces over the years as people collected their winnings and says it’s been lovely to experience the same joy herself.
The Kerry woman says she has no immediate plans for the prize, but she is enjoying thinking about what she might do with her winnings, adding it’s a lovely feeling to have options.
Mairead Doyle says she is looking forward to taking care of her family with her winnings.
