Kerry County Council says the N71 road has been closed on safety grounds as works continue in the area following a fire at Killarney National Park.
Around 5.30pm yesterday, emergency services were alerted to the fire at Five Mile Bridge on the N71 Killarney-Kenmare road and Moll's Gap.
The road was closed and reopened overnight.
However, the N71 road stretching from Muckross House to Moll's Gap has closed to traffic again, as firefighters continue to deal with some blazes.
Vincent Horgan is acting director of roads maintenance and operational services with Kerry County Council.
He says it’s expected to be closed for a number of hours, but it’ll be reviewed every hour and updates will be provided by the council:
